In this course, I learned about the critical role of life expectancy as an indicator of population health. Life expectancy at birth, 65, and 75 years provides insights into mortality patterns and health status. The highest life expectancy is reported in Japan, while Nigeria faces alarming rates of preventable deaths. Understanding these statistics is essential for public health interventions. The shift from communicable to non-communicable diseases as leading causes of death underscores the need for effective management of risk factors. This knowledge equips us to advocate for health improvements and address the challenges faced by populations with low life expectancy, ultimately aiming for better health outcomes globally.
