Ikechukwu Charles John Arinze, a Doctor of Public Health student, has made significant contributions to diabetes awareness and management through his NGO, Early Detection for Healthy Living Organization (EDHLO). He has authored multiple health-related books, established a community clinic, and partnered with health organizations to improve public health outcomes in Onitsha.
Ikechukwu Charles John Arinze is a dedicated student pursuing a Doctor of Public Health, whose work focuses on improving health outcomes, particularly concerning diabetes management and awareness. His research project on the prevalence of diabetes among school-age children and adults in Onitsha, Anambra State, Nigeria, involved sampling around 10,000 individuals between September 2018 and September 2019. The study revealed a prevalence rate of 3.75 per 1,000, highlighting the need for increased awareness and education about diabetes, especially among children, contrary to common beliefs that it primarily affects adults.
Through this research, Ikechukwu gained valuable insights into the lives of those affected by diabetes, recognizing the importance of health education and proper management to reduce complications. This experience enriched his understanding of the disease’s impact on individuals and their families, motivating him to advocate for better health practices.
In addition to his research, Ikechukwu became a distributor for health products from Rain International, which further enhanced his expertise in monitoring and managing diabetes, hypertension, and cancer. He established the Early Detection for Healthy Living Organization (EDHLO), an NGO aimed at promoting early detection of diabetes in juveniles and adults. This organization has allowed him to connect with a larger community, providing health products and education to those in need.
Ikechukwu’s commitment to public health extends to founding a clinic in Onitsha and creating a community of like-minded individuals focused on reducing the risks associated with diabetes and other health conditions. He has also published several books on health remedies, contributing to the body of knowledge in the field and enhancing his credibility as an expert.
Despite his successes, Ikechukwu faces challenges, particularly financial constraints that hinder the expansion of his research and initiatives. Nevertheless, his efforts have resulted in a significant increase in his income and a profound impact on the community’s health awareness and practices. Through his multifaceted approach, Ikechukwu continues to strive for better health outcomes and education, making a lasting difference in the lives of those affected by chronic diseases.
